April 30th, 2014 was a day that I never thought would actually come! I watched all of my best friends get their mission calls and knew that one day it would be me... but it always seemed SO FAR AWAY. But after much waiting, I can say that when that day did finally come, I was READY. I started off the day by going to the temple with my friend Eden Neff. She helped me get the nervousness off my mind. Once we finished doing baptisms, we walked around temple square for a little. Eden had recently received her mission call to Ecuador Quito. As we talked that day, I remember saying to her that I just did not want to be shocked when I opened my call. I was truly happy with WHEREVER I got called, but I did not want to be shocked. Eden replied, by reassuring me that I would not be shocked, seeing that we had looked up almost every mission in the world. (Little did we know..... :))As we drove home, we did some stalking and found the mailman... I patiently waited outside and watched him pull up my street. I ran to the truck and FINALLY...
The time actually came, that I had my mission call IN MY HANDS. I could not stop smiling! I ran it inside and could not stop looking at it. I couldn't believe that it was finally here!
I was so excited to open my call. Everyone I had talked to, said that opening their mission call was such an amazing experience. Some say it "felt like they were going home" or "they knew it all a long!" or "that it was PERFECT for them." I was so excited to feel that feeling! To burst into tears. To be reassured that I was meant to serve a mission. To get that feeling of overwhelming joy when I read those words where I would be serving for the next year and a half.
"Dear Sister Katherine Nydegger,

"Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we. Now if this is boasting, even so will I boast; for this is my LIFE and my LIGHT, my JOY and my SALVATION, and my REDEMPTION from everlasting wo." -Alma 26:35-36
